Ben Southall wins Best Job in the World
The Best Job in the World, which is a six-month contract to become the Island Caretaker of the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, has now been taken by Ben Southall. The main duty is to report back to Tourism Queensland (and the world) and let everyone know what’s taking place on the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef. That includes writing a blog (weekly), capturing videos and taking pictures for the island. Salary for the Best Job in the World is $111,000.
The application for the best job in the world started January 9 2009. Interested applicants were required to submit a 60 second application video in English explaining why they deserve to get the job. A total of 35,000 from around the world have applied. The applicants were trimmed down to 50. A Filipino was even included but only the top 11 who got the most online votes were chosen. The remaining 11 were invited to an interview selection process held on the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, Australia. And now the Tourism Queensland have decided. Ben Southall has now got the Best job in the world.
Ben Southall will start to work on July 1, 2009
