Cory Aquino to join Ninoy in the new P500 bill
The Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas has welcomed the idea of joining the portrait of our former President Corazon Aquino with Ninoy Aquino in the 500 Philippine Peso bill. This bill was first seen in www.peaceloveandrevolution.com.
The design was created by Revo Naval last August 9, 2009 as personal tribute to our former President Cory Aquino. Due to the overwhelming support given by Filipinos all over the world, his design caught the attention of the media. The proposed design was then featured in TV, print, and internet (QTV, 24 Oras, Philippine Daily Inquirer, SNN, and Yahoo). Malacañang also has been supportive of this proposal.
“The prospective design of the P500 bill with President Cory and Ninoy together looks great,” Secretary Gabriel Claudio, presidential political adviser, said in a text message. “I’m very sure the President will approve of it,” he said.
However, the proposal still has to go through a process. According to Fe Dela Cruz, Director of Corporate Affairs of Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas, the concept and design must first be studied thoroughly and will be reviewed by the Monetary Board. Only then will the President approve it. If approved this year, the new 500 peso bill will be expected to roll out in the last quarter of 2011.
