Feb 25, 2009 not a holiday
Last year’s declaration of a “special non-working holiday” for Edsa I (Feb 25, 2008) brought expectations that this year’s Edsa I will be declared the same.
Even Presidents Aquino, Fidel Ramos and Joseph Estrada included February 25 in the list of official holidays during their terms to commemorate the event.
But Malacañang declared that EDSA People Power Revolution on Feb. 25, 2009 will not be a holiday. And I think it won’t be moved to Feb 23 either.
Fajardo said at a news briefing, “I think there are many long weekends and long holidays, that’s why Feb. 25 was not considered. But we have many activities commemorating Edsa I.”

“We expect the temperature to continue to drop,” said Prisco Nilo, director of PAGASA (Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration).
The Philippines is experiencing cold weather because of the northeast monsoon (also known as the Amihan) blowing into the country.
But while it’s cold in the evening until early morning, the temperature usually rises and turns warm in the morning.
Effects of Cold Weather:
- Low Humidity. The colder air is, the lower its saturation point. The cold weather makes our lips dry and chappy. More »
